Judging savoury biscuits and pickles, Harriet Mansell is the head chef and owner of Robin Wylde, a hyper-seasonal restaurant in Lyme Regis.

Hailing from Sidmouth in Devon, Harriet’s career in the food world began with her first job at a fruit and vegetable store. Working various part-time restaurant job throughout her teen years, after graduating from Cardiff University in politics and history, she completed her Cordon Bleu culinary training.

Harriet’s first job in a professional kitchen saw her working for fellow West Country dweller Mark Hix, at his London based Champagne and Oyster Bar within Selfridges. In 2014 Harriet began a three month stage Noma in Copenhagen – an experience which opened her eyes to a whole new world of flavour and ingredients. Following this she completed a couple of stints in high-profile London kitchens as well as a brewery, whilst also working towards her qualifications as a sommelier.

The next five years saw Harriet work on some of the world’s most prestigious superyachts, where she cooked on board vessels in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Seychelles. In early 2019 she returned to the UK to begin Robin Wylde in its first inception at The Pop-Up Kitchen in Lyme Regis, which operated for six months. Less than two months after opening, she was approached by BBC producers and asked to take part in the 2020 series of Great British Menu, which saw her compete in the South West heat. In October 2020, Harriet opened Robin Wylde as a permanent site within a former pottery workshop in Lyme Regis’ Silver Street.
