SLEEP: If you’re looking for comfortable grandeur, this is the place for you. There’s a range of room styles on offer – from country house-style rooms with four poster beds to more modern design-led options. We stayed in The Photographer’s Room, a large and stylish bolthole with a supremely comfortable bed.

EAT: There are two restaurants on-site, both of which are well worth indulging in. The Brasserie serves elegantly presented dishes in a casual environment – we went for the pil pil prawns and the salmon served with sweet potato and greens, with the house-favourite lemon posset to finish – while The Burlington offers unbeatable luxury; our highlight of its expertly curated menu was the lemon sole with caviar, but the service was top notch too.

DO: It may be surrounded by rolling hills and country roads, but it’s surprisingly speedy to explore the local towns. Betty’s tearoom in nearby Ilkley is a must – don’t leave before trying their Yorkshire curd tart – and craft beer lovers must check out local brewery North; now renowned across the UK, it has outposts across Leeds’ city centre and outskirts.

Top Tip: Don’t leave before booking a treatment at the hotel’s spa. Located across the road from the main building and boasting a range of luxe options, it offers the cherry on top of a deliciously indulgent break.
